Think you need to be working your Kleeneze business full-time in order to create a success story?
Not so. Gold Distributors, Sakuntla Kalyan and Richard Lovesey joined the business to make a little extra money on top of their regular wage. Now they’re the current Harry Crook Trophy winners and have, through this, qualified for New York!
“We both started our Kleeneze business in March 2008,” Sakuntla told EWB. “At the time, we both worked in a busy retail store full-time. I’m still working in retail, but Richard has since changed jobs and works in a factory. It was when we were told that we weren’t going to be able to work any more overtime that we knew we had to look for something to replace the income that we would lose.”
When a flyer came through their letterbox telling them how they could earn that extra income, the couple jumped at the chance. And it wasn’t long before they saw the extra money coming in.
“We joined and hit our 10% in our first month earning us £245. This showed us that we could carry on with this business part-time. Within no time we started to sponsor and build a team.”
Two years later, they found themselves in possession of the Harry Crook Trophy, an honour given to the Distributorship that shows outstanding business growth. However, it wasn’t the cup itself that really spurred their business on, but the goal of qualifying for a Kleeneze Destination.
“When we heard that Hong Kong was the 2009 Destination, we knew we wanted to qualify. The fact that we hadn’t qualified the year before for Cyprus made us even more determined, so we put a plan together with our Uplines, who looked at our business and recognised some great couples within our team who also wanted to qualify for Hong Kong. From then on, it became a team goal.
“The fact that the team were on board just made it more exciting. You could feel a real buzz and
everyone pulled together to make it happen.
“Hong Kong was our first Destination and we’d already heard so much about Kleeneze Destinations from others who had been on them. We really didn’t know what to expect, but being part of Hong Kong just blew us away.”
In working so hard to qualify for Hong Kong, Sakuntla and Richard found themselves in the running for the Harry Crook Trophy at the same time.
“The benefits of qualifying for the trophy have been great. It’s fantastic for sponsoring, as well as team morale, as winning it was very much a team thing. We really didn’t know whether we’d won or not, so when our names were called out at the January Showcase, I couldn’t stop shaking.”
As trophy winners, the couple automatically qualify for the next Destination of New York, leaving them free to focus on more personal goals.
“We have so many personal goals we want to achieve in 2011,” admits Sakuntla. “However, our main goal is to buy our own home one day, as we currently rent. We’re going to be focusing on continuing to build our business now and help many others to achieve their goals too.”
